1UP, or “One United Power,” created the world’s first-ever artwork using live coral on the Nusa Penida Island off of Bali. Inspired by crew members’ love of diving and surfing, the world’s first underwater 3D installation involved welding letters into place and populating the piece with live baby coral, aiding in the regeneration of coral and marine life in area. In addition to the fun of traveling and painting, their efforts on this project were aimed at drawing attention to the critical state of our environment. 1UP is a Berlin-based worldwide graffiti crew of anonymous members renowned for broad daylight street bombings, whole-cars done in running traffic and rooftops of dizzying heights. The collective of men and women from all over Europe seize space by way of large-scale installations, prints, canvases and books. They follow the family creed of strength in unity: One Crew, One Love, One Power.
